@candle 🇬🇧 We will rather say "il boit un whisky" (the "drink" is implied) or "il boit une lager".
For the second one, since if I'm not mistaken lager is some kind of beer, it will be "il boit une bière" (except if you are surrounded by fanatical beer-lover, when it may be useful to be more precise).
