I literally have no idea how people play fretless instruments.
@Noelle808 after a while you get a sense of how it would sound wherever your finger goes and just know which spot is the right one
@Noelle808 It's not that different from fretted instruments, but what I never understood is how people could play fretless instruments without any marks on the side of the neck
@Noelle808 tbh I find it easier without frets getting in my way. The transition from violin to guitar was weeeeird
*Me, paranoid, trying to play a violin*
"Is this sharp? I think it's sharp. My finger is a millimeter off and it's 100% unacceptable."
Even with guitar I compulsively check if it's in tune constantly.
If I fill the coffee machine a hair higher than the "fill here" line I have to pour out some water and try again.
@Noelle808 big mood
*Me, paralyzed over the fact I added slightly too much flour to my cookie recipe*
This is fine.
@Noelle808 same tho, once you start having good intonation and can here you're off it's like an itch until you fix it
@Raelynn Totally, and my pitch is actually kinda crappy so I'm never sure unless I use a tuner like a scrub.
@Noelle808 yeee, I still don't trust myself to go off solely by pitch yet so I always double check with a tuner. Tho the rare occasion I get it dead on from pitch alone feels amazing
@Noelle808 a lot of muscle memory
