I've spent the past several hours watching an anime where the central themes are loss, trauma, and personal growth/change, and now I'm desperately trying to not have Personal Feels about it

If you haven't seen/heard of it before, it has a similar main plot conceit to Steven Universe. The grand majority of the main characters are agender gem-people who fight off extraterrestrial foes. The difference is that it doesn't do most of the bullshit that made me stop watching SU, it has beautiful 3D animation, and it deals with a lot of heavier stuff than SU ever did/does.
