Previous versions from the late 90's are often considered nostalgic, but those would often make you pass out on the first shot and turn blue for no reason at all. It was inadvisable to drink those versions more than a few days in a row.
The Windows is a proprietary house cocktail consisting of aged ingredients dating from 1989 and has a long legacy (and lots of ingredients that won't be removed due to tradition).
