I love #Linux - I just wish the development culture was different, which would encourage me to participate more.
Is this really the best alternative among less commercial operating systems? (which support my laptop's hardware)

I guess it's the typical meritocracy bullshit. Everyone recognizes and even affirms that he is out of line, but he's right on the technical part, so let's focus on that.
No matter all the good people who get driven away by this kind of tone and the culture of accepting it. :/

On the human side, this article confirms my worries about the quite toxic culture in #Linux development. :/

Thankfully, by now I know that it's better to ask, and often they even respond.
Still on bad days I get scared to ask a question because it might be "stupid". :/

Finally having some fun with #WiFi again.

Tried to use some new LEDE boxes (small embedded boards) as Access Points in my setup - failed. "iw phy" shows me that phy1 is only capable of monitor mode, nothing else, no AP mode, no managed mode, nothing. Very confusing.

Asked a colleague about it. "Oh yea, we used those for SAR measurements and configured the driver accordingly, so we deactivated all the other modes".

Nice state to leave our test infrastructure in, man... :o

@kellerfuchs Well I've seen them at Osmocon, which is a conference on running your own 2G/3G network with open source software. They had some cool open hardware stuff going on and they were nice. But it's still Facebook... :(

I still need like 1.5 years to finish my PhD, but then I'll be looking. Don't want to move away from Berlin though.
I don't know anyone doing similar work in Mannheim, sorry.

And then all of a sudden, my memory management issues are coming back to haunt me... Nooooo /o\

Some days, it feels like I'm designing a beautiful thing.
Some days, it feels like I'm just hammering my code until it finally does what I want it to. And often it still won't.

Today is one of the latter days. =_=
