An interview with the people behind the social.coop Mastodon instance https://medium.com/open-collective/social-coop-a-cooperative-decentralized-social-network-c10980c9ed91
A list of various #cooperatives in #Berlin http://www.kollektiv-betriebe.org/ (in #German only for now; I'm in contact with them to maybe provide a translation into English)
So apparently there's a new subreddit being run by Google manifesto guy. It's nominally about exposing tech company bad behavior, so I've started posting some relevant but anti-right-wing news and articles. If others could assist, I think this is a good way to potentially actually change some minds. The sub is /r/StopBeingEvil, and I'll warn you, it's a fairly hostile environment.
"More harm has been done throughout history by obedience
than by malice. The arsenals of all the world’s militaries are the physical manifestation of our willingness to defer to others. If you want to be sure you never contribute to war, genocide, or oppression, the first step is to stop following orders."
alpha male (n.): a man whose behavior is not considered stable enough for public demonstration.
ever since i downloaded and started using the duckduckgo app for searches on my mobile, the google app has become so needy, popping up in my notifications to remind me google assistant exists.
reminds me of those old folk tails of creatures that are really nice until you stop going along with them and then they start to show a different side to them.
jesus BGP glitches are weird

@Elizafox You order an IPv4, but it’s out of stock. You change your mind for an IPv6, but the bartender doesn’t know what it is
@Elizafox you want to share a GPG with your friends, but after you order it, you’re alone, and the drink smells terrible
@Elizafox imo the GNU GPL should be:
a Cuba Libre (not gratis) but you're given the ingredients and are allowed to change them, collaborate with others to change them, redistribute the drink, and redistribute your changed version of the drink
No one talks about or drinks the "8" version unless they don't know any better.
The "8.1" was only a marginal improvement.
The bartender aggressively pushes the "10."
Previous versions from the late 90's are often considered nostalgic, but those would often make you pass out on the first shot and turn blue for no reason at all. It was inadvisable to drink those versions more than a few days in a row.
The Windows is a proprietary house cocktail consisting of aged ingredients dating from 1989 and has a long legacy (and lots of ingredients that won't be removed due to tradition). No one really knows what's in it, and that's privileged information. Most people believe the "7" version of this cocktail was the best, but many reluctantly drink the "10" due to the "7" no longer being made by the bartender.
You might get a stomach bug from The Windows if you don't use care.
wow cool OpenBSD has routing domains/multiple routing tables and I didn't even know https://lab.rickauer.com/post/2017/07/16/OpenBSD-rtables-and-rdomains
Slow software is a diversity issue. If your software only works on new, high end macbook laptops, then the poor can't run your software.
if you're still making excuses for tech/media corps not fixing abuse of their systems
stop kidding yourself that they can't control things
realise that if they wanted to change it they would have done it already
know that the awful shit has their approval

Researchers have examined DNS censorship, e.g. in which countries you get the most manipulated DNS replies, and for what kinds of websites.
