#introductions now seems like a good time to re-introduce myself

I'm a trans lesbian, anarcho-communist, radfem, goth, and game artist.

I'm super into creative writing, essays, creating multimedia art in general, art/media analysis/appreciation/critique, exploration of aesthetics, deconstructive philosophy, and game design theory.

4 years of schooling, almost graduated. I'd consider myself an indie game artist, and plan to transition into a bigger focus on game design.

As far as gothness goes, I'm more into gothic punk, dark fantasy, vampire fiction, and am still sorta into rivethead culture. Uhhh also I make a lot of srs and a lot of silly posts

on the note of electro-industrial, unlike 1st wave industrial, its depths have yet to be fully explored. A new generation of electro-industrials with new sensibilities and experimentation could lead to some great results. Though, its cultural significance is no longer relevant. Or so I thought. Industrial is a very anti-capitalist music genre and style of performance art. Now would be the best time, in this glorious new age in which the internet and wave of disillusionment is bringing the underprivileged and idealists together against the prevalent poisons of society. Plus, we're at the peak of electronic production imo, and its growing

electro-industrial also isn't necessarily free from the problems of 1st wave, even though by the time the 1st wave was all but dead, electro-industrial was comparatively revolutionary, dense in complexity, and challenging. An easy thing to do is listen to the chronological discog of Skinny Puppy or Front Line Assembly. Trust me, you're going to get very bored. you may even get sick from how some songs are so interchangeable. Artists in general should not focus on 'more of the same', in my opinion.

Im not saying I don't like Throbbing Gristle and what they represented at the time, but tell me now, in this ocean of boring first wave revival, and in retrospect, in the 70s scene, did they really sound any different from anyone else? They are memorable more in that they did edgy things like call an album "20 Jazz Funk Greats" to prank listeners, and took a photo of their cover in a very grim park, and other such performance stunts.

The 1st wave industrial bands that refused to branch out, change their sound, or change their sensibilities are what is wrong with the very nature of industrial music. Let your music change, don't get tied down by the purity of industrial as a performance art or music genre. I and others have a lot more respect for the classic era industrial bands that did branch out and find the sound of classic industrial too tiring. Cabaret Voltaire, Coil, and the Neue Deutsche Welle scene in retrospect are far more memorable than anything by Throbbing Gristle, Carter Tutti, or any other such interchangeable 1st wave performance group.

Cabaret Voltaire gave up on industrial and moved onto making more upbeat acid music, and they seemed like they genuinely enjoyed it, and it was nice.

I still have a creepy bust of an old man that I made in my sculpting class. It gazes upon my bed every night. It has a fuzzy texture from dust clinging to the unbaked supersculpey.

One thing I don't understand is indie claymators using playdoh instead of something that allows more hold and detail like supersculpey. Playdoh is WAY too danged soft.

Im very mad that for a simpsons couch skit, claymation artist Lee Hardcastle used a royalty free variation of Where is My Mind by the Pixies. Mad because now the original is stuck in my head and it can't get out.
