Ahh yes it is so funny to see in the comments of a Kurzgesagt video, capitalists saying "but there's too much corruption for a society in which the rich invest into the poor to maximize development". Not only is the basis of their statements a flimsy illusion propped up by capitalist propaganda (but.. rules of nature!), but they do not see right in front of them that their own economic beliefs are against their own interest.

My littlest brother insists on being a strength based player in bloodborne, which I can appreciate. But I would much rather flip around like a ninja with skill based weapons, or go bloodtinge and use those crazy niche guns like the cannon, gatling gun, and rifle spear

@Skoll3 I've always been more of a de-greaser shotgun axtinguisher for close quarters pyro. And Homewrecker when necessary, which is super great. Flare gun is great for what it is, but when im in a bigger skirmish i feel under-utilized without a good ranged side-arm.

@caspase My concerns were more in the realm of protecting my identity and connections I may have for my own security. Though I feel like I've struck enough of a balance. It is hard getting personal in that manner, talking about your life. I feel more okay doing it on Mastodon, because of how the community is. I rarely touched Twitter ever, because it wasn't "real" to me. Like, people can't be themselves, cause of the spectacle. Venues can change everything.

To summarize everything I said in all of these long posts, mainstream punk ruined everything, punk is dead, and people who actually had passion just developed better iterations and expressions of the garbage fire left by Sid Vicious and his posse of market psychologists.

@polychrome I have things I want to keep secret, mostly weird personal things. But I had plenty of other things I tried to keep secret out of 'good habit', but I was more than happy to share these things with people, and the only thing stopping me was an encroaching fear of surveillance culture.

According to the guy who effectively kickstarted the emo scene in DC, (even if he wasn't really the first or not), Ian McKaye, hardcore and emo are the same thing to him. Why? Because emo is about raw deep expression of emotion. This is how a lot of hardcore punks would describe hardcore music. Though over time emo as a thing developed a more different range of sounds. It wasn't until bands like Jawbreaker, American Football, and Sunny Day Real Estate got sorta-popular to where punks went like, "oh i guess its not really the same thing and it is stylistically different enough"

@a_breakin_glass post-hardcore is more of an offshoot of an offshoot, hardcore. It has a LOT of point and purpose because the hardcore punk scene just got sooo tired that it was far less interesting to listen to new bands in the genre. It was a welcomed change of new experimentation imo. Especially artists like Drive Like Jehu and Fugazi and stuff. Though some more commercial friendly post-hardcore bands have created a wave of Vans Warped Tour friendly slick radio stuff that sounds a little weird, like Letlive and shit. I like post-hardcore a lot also because it's super adjacent to emocore bands I listened to as an angry teen.

Anarcho-punk took the more direct opposition to what punk music was supposed to represent, by actively attacking it, culture jamming, and going forward with brutal honesty pertaining to the sociopolitical nature of music, punk, the industry, etc.

Pop punk forming as a genre was much of the opposite. It kind of embraced the commercial, corporate catchy side of punk, and over time, its image of being controversial and subversive was entirely erased, and now the world is just now expunging the poison Vans Warped Tour has injected in the ears of Gen Xers and Millennials. Nothing wrong with the style itself, but the way it inhabits the industry.
