@a_breakin_glass post-hardcore is more of an offshoot of an offshoot, hardcore. It has a LOT of point and purpose because the hardcore punk scene just got sooo tired that it was far less interesting to listen to new bands in the genre. It was a welcomed change of new experimentation imo. Especially artists like Drive Like Jehu and Fugazi and stuff. Though some more commercial friendly post-hardcore bands have created a wave of Vans Warped Tour friendly slick radio stuff that sounds a little weird, like Letlive and shit. I like post-hardcore a lot also because it's super adjacent to emocore bands I listened to as an angry teen.
