Grim Fandango has a positive depiction of communists and revolutionaries in media. At the time, that wasn't very common at all. It still isn't, for a company at that level.

@Mirzaba it's such a thoughtfully written game in so many ways and the writing stands up surprisingly well for a video game from the 90s. I really love it

@c8rz @Mirzaba

I played it for the first time recently and was a bit disappointed ^^'

There were positive points ofc, like the music, the atmosphere, etc...

But I felt like the story lacked consistency the cutscenes weren't always clear (it was not always easy to tell what happen)...

For the depiction of communists I felt they were a bit ridiculed, but I guess considering the context in which the game was made it's still great, yeah ^^'

@Nocta @Mirzaba yeah, I can see how it wouldn't appeal to everyone! There was definitely a huge difference in terms of visual quality between the cutscenes and the regular game, which I found sort of charming, but I get why other people might not agree

How did you think the story lacked consistency? I haven't played it in a bit, I think it did vary between chapters?

@c8rz @Nocta
It doesnt have enough time to let the flow over major events happen as naturally as they could have. Though I don't entirely mind that.
