Everytime I look at something written in mathematical notation I can prevent myself from thinking "this is exactly what we do NOT want to do in programming: one letter variable, super super dense code, no comments, symbols/infix operators instead of obvious functions names"

And the result speak for itself : you need to **study math** things to understand it.

We you need to do that for programming you are just reading shitty code not meant to be share with humans.

Math is just shitty code.

Side note: I wouldn't recommend using Telegram; they market themselves as a secure app but there's no e2e encryption unless you specifically enter a "secret chat", and then it uses some custom crypto they came up with. It's all very dodgy.

witches.town no longer federates with counter.social

One of the reasons we defederate is when an instance makes it clear that they
exist to provide a space for things that are, ironically, counter to our rules
and ideals. counter.social is the epitome of this.

It had only taken this long to act because federation is opt-out, and we had
not thought to act. This was preventative and not in response to anything.

Hey #Mastodon folks, I am not familiar with the API, and didn't exactly see a way to get an array of card entities, but I wanted to ask: is there a way to get all the statuses on an instance that include a link to a specific domain (like every mention on my instance that linked to interi.org)?

Because if so, I could use that to start conversations with my static site, and just have it pull over the conversations on build. And that would be neat. ^_^

Re that last boost: Mastodon is hard to get into without a guide and some focused usage.

The things that make it less toxic also make it harder to discover people to follow.

Without people, you just kind of feel like you're tooting into the void. It makes Mastodon a lonely place that you're less likely to return to. I mean, this is why Twitter and Facebook put so much energy into recommendations.

I don't think Mastodon should try to solve this problem. But let's acknowledge the hurdles.
