@Vann Side note, here's a general rundown of the rest of the Souls games:

Demon's Souls: More of a proof-of-concept than anything else. Did not age well. PVP is dead. PS3 only.

Dark Souls 1: A bit outdated and rough around the edges, but people adore it unconditionally. Wait for the re-release to have PVP funtimes.

Dark Souls 2: My favorite, but people despise it for being iffy at release. PVP is mostly dead, though you may find several DS2 purists (like me) who still play it.

Dark Souls 3: Very new and pretty, but kind of a mess. Mostly a broken copy-paste of Bloodborne's mechanics, with the same engine and everything. PVP is alive and well, however.

@Vann If you're looking for a good game to start with, and you have a PS4, play Bloodborne. It forces you to engage with the riskier mechanics of the series that you might not otherwise, and skills in that game translate directly to the others.

@Vann People still absolutely loathe Dark Souls 2, by virtue of it being different from Dark Souls 1, having a few key design flaws, and the manipulative marketing for the game that made the graphics look far better than they actually were.

Dark Souls 2's re-release is perfectly fine, though. Most (if not all) of it's problems were fixed, to the point where it's my second favorite Souls game.

Oh god I've made a horrible mistake, I said that I like Dark Souls 2 on the internet. What have I done.

Speaking of Nintendo, the sad truth is that I'm probably going to get Dark Souls for the Switch and play it for hundreds of hours-- even though I'm not a particular fan of the first game.

Like, by virtue of being handheld alone, DSR is going to be extremely appealing to me. (Now all we need is DS2 for Switch, and we'll be off to the races...)

@falkreon A general rule I have is that if you're talking to a speedrunner, things are probably gonna be fine. If you're talking to a speedrun FAN, then it's time to abandon ship.

(It's not even just transphobia, the speedrunning fanbase is brimming with toxicity and the chat is always hot garbage. It's like a concentrated extract of middle school impregnated gamergate... smh...)

In far more positive news, It's been a pretty good day today.
