@tashepard Milk is one of those things where I remember it fondly but I actually take a sip and I'm like

@Nocta Houseki no Kuni/Land of the Lustrous.

If you haven't seen/heard of it before, it has a similar main plot conceit to Steven Universe. The grand majority of the main characters are agender gem-people who fight off extraterrestrial foes. The difference is that it doesn't do most of the bullshit that made me stop watching SU, it has beautiful 3D animation, and it deals with a lot of heavier stuff than SU ever did/does.

I've spent the past several hours watching an anime where the central themes are loss, trauma, and personal growth/change, and now I'm desperately trying to not have Personal Feels about it

I'm very tired, but that's okay

My semester is basically over now :)

Me: Has a long and honest conversation about mental health with my fiance, schedules a mental health care appointment, has a panic attack

Follow up to this, but a lot of people don't realize that constant internet screeching actually DESENSITIZES people to politics and makes them less likely to engage with them.

Treating political events in the same way that we treat memes, constantly spreading them and forcing them down people's throats, creates a situation where political events ARE memetic; they're transient, caught in a limelight where everyone only ever takes them half-seriously until they inevitably get forgotten and left behind after a few months.

Don't let politics be transient. Events that have major impacts on people's lives shouldn't have the same priority as a zootopia comic.

Okay real talk, one of my biggest pet peeves is when people flip out on the internet after major political stuff happens

For instance, if net neutrality dies, that's rough news. It's real rough news-- but I just know that I'm going to have to wade through 300 tumblr posts of people having panic attacks and screaming at people that if they had just called their representatives, etc etc etc.

Like, at some point we have to realize that yelling at people over the internet isn't going to fix the corruption in the US, ya know? At some point the blatant toxicity overpowers the actual impact of political events, ya know??
