MeriBeri🍒 @MariBari

Just finished my first full game of Civ 4. As somebody who has only played the post-hex revolution Civ games, it was really surreal to play an older one, and with overhaul mods installed no less.

It was enjoyable. I'd almost dedicate several hours of my life to it again.

@ebeth I can see why people defend it as the best Civ game. There are a lot of things that were either missing or radically altered to be less interesting in the newer games.

On the topic of civ 3-era games though, there's Alpha Centauri, which is a personal favorite of mine. (Even if I don't play it nearly as much as I want to.)

@MariBari i actually never played that one! i should check it out sometime

@ebeth Alpha Centauri is the archaic sci-fi spinoff lovechild between Civ 2 and Civ 3, basically. It does some really interesting things that were never seen in other Sid Meyer games, but at the same time it's not very friendly with modern computers. If you don't have a numpad, good luck navigating 8000 dropdown menus to do anything. :P

@MariBari oof, i do have a numpad but yeah i might be better off sticking with stellaris

if it's ever free or in a bundle i'll give it a shot though!
