Just a thing that irritated me last night and I can't get out of my head this morning: CWs are not tags. They are not to increase the number of viewers of a post - they don't act that way. They are to protect the reader.
Sometimes I might CW something in a way that you feel is an overreaction, but I do it so that people sensitive to that stuff (even if only temporarily) don't read it. If I see that the thing goes even near contentious territory and my brain is working properly, it will get a cw for that.

for the record, I think women in science initiatives can feel pretty exclusionary (even just by calling their events "women in science", despite intersectionality being in their charter), but this kind of language is a whole 'nother kind of signalling
