I realize that i sound like a machine learning algorithm whenever i describe my work, but so far I've outperformed both the neural network and the q-learner my old boss developed.

So I make models of populations and use them to develop metrics that fit data.

I do NOT use data for my models - I have never fit a model to data, so much as used existing mechanistic models to predict patterns and trends that I can validate with data.

I swear to god every other person who does this is a giant asshole about the actual empirical scientists whose work we rely on to generate and fit the data.
