@meena ... why?
@Kat yeah but like all clothes they should be "wear them if you want to"
but yeah, cultural or religious apparel tends to be really pretty even if some of that is because it's novel to a western eye
@Kat she's an Iranian chess grandmaster who got kicked off the Iranian chess team for refusing to wear a hijab
she's actually also super pretty

Just a thing that irritated me last night and I can't get out of my head this morning: CWs are not tags. They are not to increase the number of viewers of a post - they don't act that way. They are to protect the reader.
Sometimes I might CW something in a way that you feel is an overreaction, but I do it so that people sensitive to that stuff (even if only temporarily) don't read it. If I see that the thing goes even near contentious territory and my brain is working properly, it will get a cw for that.

@karolat the thing is, it's a come on
once I rejected him he can argue that our (perceived) extra relationship (on top of teacher-student) changed the way I graded his assignments (it didn't), and regrade things
these kind of things happen a LOT
so it's super against all sorts of rules to entertain that conversation
@karolat no, it's pretty inappropriate no matter what
I talked to my boss and she gave me the option of kicking him out of my class, but it would have delayed his graduation by a semester and I'm fundamentally a softy when it comes to students.
did make sure to always have someone in the room with me after that.
@karolat it is a SUPER inappropriate thing to say to someone in charge of teaching you
I guarantee my male peers at the time did NOT have similar shit to deal with from their students
I think the amount of work female professors/TAs at the college level have to go through to earn the same amount of respect that their male counterparts have by more or less default is pretty sexist
