@candle Redundancy usually means emphasis.

However, you'll get lots of people scrunching their noses at you, because "moi je" is narcissistic & vain... ^^°

Sorry, it's not as clear as I thought when typing it: @Hiraelle MADE this, for me, last year! :<

Are you jealous? \o/

@Hiraelle makes the cutest of plushies!

Here's my Dreadful Loki, which wants you to please kneel so he can be king of the world? That would be awesome?

@candle @ololduck That's because of usage, and shifts in meaning over time, notably through poetry and literature...

*Technically*, j'aime means I love and that's it.

But like you can say "I love chocolate", it didn't necessarily means romantic love.

It's been quite recent, that people have NEEDED to be able to tell the two apart strictly, and so people began using modulations to clarify "I love you - but not romantically". That's why it's the "like" meaning that's taken the modifications.

As for why said modification is "bien", which literally makes the phrase "I love you well (enough?)": I have no clue. Sorry. :x

@paladin Well... it IS an anarchist instance... ^^°

*goes on tumblr*

"why you should all consider getting chickens
- a small backyard, a decent fence and the will to make a safe coop for your fluffy dames is all you need to make it happen"

"all you need" lol

"oh yeah you just need to have a house! with a backyard!"

yeah I'm going to buy one at the supermarket on sale, it should be less than 10 euros x)

@Alda Han la vache! C'est une Durendil!!! *0*

@candle Oh, you should definitely get "est-ce que" memorized as a formula! Forget the individual meaning of the words (now that you've *understood* it), just get the full phrase down.

It's VERY useful because it turns the sentence into a question, without needing to swap the sentence structure.

"vous lisez" (you read)
"lisez-vous?" (do you read?)
=> "est-ce que vous lisez?"

It's simpler, closer to the English question framework, and allow you to bypass the weird French question structure entirely. :<
