For #summerreading does anyone have any #book #recommendations for #philosophy? In particular I want to know more about #Marx, as I think I may have Marxist anthropology leanings, but I know -nothing- about philosophy so any intro books would also be good. Textbooks are fine as long as I don't need a class (unless the class is free and doesn't give me a grade). #recommendation
@thufir Thank you so much!
@Lapis
If you haven't read it already, Society of the Spectacle is both accessible and beautifully written (if you get a good translation or read it in french), & it's an influential attempt at a Marxist take on culture that doesn't match Adorno's or Benjamin's.
I also really liked The Essential Wittgenstein & found it accessible (though most people find Wittgenstein impenatrable; ymmv) -- not Marxist though.
@Lapis Here are some books and other resources you might find interesting:

Any sociology textbook should be good for intro stuff, but I'd recommend https://gen.lib.rus.ec/book/index.php?md5=D55AD22E3969A194105E329B58FF0B08
If you are interested more in Marx's work concerning social theory/anthropology consider looking moreso into his concepts on materialism than Capital and the manifesto.
