"I don't see how hate speech & fascism limits the speech of others and creates a hostile environment" ~ Ancient cishet white guy proverb

Every day I stir up anew my pride, my spite, and my dignity. Every day I wrestle those notions I have been brought up with: Do not be that person who steps out of the line, that person who is being stared at in the street. Well, I am that person, and I did nothing to deserve that. And I force myself every day to be proud enough, to face it. Every day I whip up the energy to leave a little trace of glitter in the world, just because I am visible.

And I need to go on hoovering right now, because I have to be at work by 15.00 and need to buy nail polish before, so I can paint my nails in pride colours for tomorrow. 🌈

I am vacuum-cleaning the appartment in hot pants and feel a strong urge to put on a fake moustache and sing ... something.

Twitter calling the hiding of tweets with the word "queer" in them an "issue" that they're "working on fixing" as though it was an accident and somebody didn't make a decision with the express purpose of making this happen

And I need, of course, a stylish black umbrella asap.

First time today I saw children and youth in the street protect themselves from direct sun with umbrellas. Is this a thing now? Because I like it.

It's "Talk like people from a 1987 scifi movie that's set in 2017" day.

This anecdote was brought to you via cyberspace technology.

Just overheard a conversation where someone was told to upload files into our publishing system's database using a web-frontended tool, the procedure being referred to as "send the pictures via cyberspace technology", and maybe this is my new favorite diction from now on.

These are people to whom "the answer to speech is more speech" simply doesn't apply. They can't be convinced or talked down; they're not arguing from a place of merit and they know it. This is why neutrality doesn't work, and actually favors the villains, because it treats them like they're acting in exactly as rational and good-faith a place as their victims, and that just isn't true.
