Just had my first "I know that person IRL" moment on mastodon, complicated ex from teenagerdom. Glad to be anon, and grown up :D

@DivineOmega I am queer, trans*, mentally ill, autistic and have some history in activism. I don't code but I like to cuddle those who do. I haven't used any social media for years, and am fairly asocial IRL.

I'm enjoying here because I can just hang out and play with interaction. I don't have to perform anything I don't enjoy performing, and instead of the "its the internet, of course I can be a dick to you" attitudes, I'm finding people behaving like people. Is nice

Many of those folks will be habituated to doing the social inclusion version of "making your own fun", and making the best of brief instances of non-toxic environments.

Also, the overlap of the groups you've identified is huge.

Also also, much trad social media requires/encourages using your legit name. Many of those folx for various reasons don't want to.

@DivineOmega would suggest adding queer/lgbtq+ to that for greater coverage :)

I'm not sure where in England you are, or if you already know this, but in my experience shops in West Indian and Afro Caribbean neighbourhoods are the only places I've ever found good elbow macaroni.

Having no perceived use to a capitalist society isn't the same as being of no use. Seek out the people that keep being in your life and enriching and ask them why.

You are not here to be useful. We are all here because little screaming parts of genetic code, that are older than we have been upright on 2 legs, are compelled to exist.

You exist, and that is enough. You are enough.
