So, that reminds me...I've got a rough idea in mind for something that I can make at home using readily available scraps of various hardwoods that I can get from a friend. A lot of this wood is in the form of little pieces up to maybe 6-8 inches long at most, many of them shorter, and maybe 1/4" x 1/2" in cross-section. So, little rectangular sticks.
I thought, maybe I could turn them into "stim sticks" or "fidget sticks", carving negative-relief patterns onto the long sides and maybe adding positive-relief bumps using decorative inserts, the heads of brads, &c. Do folks here think these could be interesting?
@kel yes, yes definitely. The more strength and character, the better. Ideally, if you're seeking to make these for sale, I'd rather see them as personal gifts alongside more expensive purchases, until the sticks have their own reputation to price your efforts. Either way, I'd love to see them. :3
@kel maybe that didn't seem to make sense.. I'm sorry, I'm busy thinking of business models instead of simply pleasurable creation. I really need more of the latter. :x
I'd still love to see a few sticks you craft!
@Filene gonna try to make a sample or two soon, but want to purchase a couple supplies first :} nothing expensive, just want some of those plastic templates with holes in various shapes to make drawing easier for me
