@edensaesthetic I'm also dealing with forgetfulness, or simply lack of intent to remember..
What's worked for me is Intentional Living & meditation; essentially, the first way I can embody myself in a moment is to feel that the universe (I believe in a sentient one) has chosen This moment for me to be aware in.
Harder than it looks when I'm triggered, or so distracted being a busybody that I'm not ingesting news. I've begun meditation almost daily, and I've had small results meaningful enough to persist.
I've been journaling too, though that helps with greater swaths of time, not moments of minute detail. :x

@Filene I feel like journalling works best for me, I used to do a type of journalling from "Night in the Woods" where you try to draw images as much as possible, and that helps ground my thoughts, as long as I remember to write a date by each one.
Meditation is tricky for me to keep up regularly, but I'm happy that it's working for you! Especially if you've managed to keep it up daily, that's cool.
