@wwalt My father had one of those computers made in the 80s which started directly on a Basic interpreter. So that's how I got into programming. I don't know when I wrote my first programs, the computer was already at home when I was born. My father had a book with listings for simple games for that computer, so I started programming by typing some of those listing, without really understanding what they really did.
I then continued to do some things from time to time with QBasic on DOS and then with Visual Basic on Windows.
I started to switch to other languages quite later, when I started to get an Internet access, and because of studies.
