If there are visually impaired persons who follow me, please feel free to tell me how my pictures descriptions are. Are they too lengthy? Too lyrical or verbose? Do they lack details? Or are they ok?

When new people turn up, maybe leave it a few days before suggesting that they move instances. You gotta let people settle in! When you straight away start suggesting other instances they should join, before they even understand instances and federation, it really throws people off-balance.

Pondering starting #GetOnOurLawn for people to share ideas and requests for making the fediverse a nicer place for newbies to hang out in. ​

My first idea is:

Don't go into a stranger's mentions to trash anything, especially if it's unrelated to what they said in the post you're replying to. So like, if someone says "ooo Mastodon is so nice!" DO NOT reply like, "Twitter is a wanky trashfire, amirite?"

My grandparents decided to learn Welsh when they were 65. After two years of lessons in it (and talking Welsh with me at home, I was going to a Welsh school and was already fluent), they were fluent. My grandmother, around the same time, decided to overcome her phobia of water and had me teach her how to swim. She'd swim laps with me in the pool up into her 80s.

You're not too old and it's not too late to try something new.
