I'm so glad to see With Those We Love Alive back on my TL after so long, too. Bless that game.
@mickmaus If you got questions, hit me up. I can't promise I'm a powerful enough Stand user yet, but I've done some fairly cool shit.
@typhlosion I'll post about it periodically! ...I didn't actually expect anybody to be interested...
@mickmaus http://bgb.bircd.org/pandocs.htm For GB specifically, you're gonna want this!
Look for a disassembly of your favorite game (probably perched on GitHub or somethin'), get it to compile, then start messing with it and see what happens.
Honestly, assembly is WAY more intimidating than difficult. Learn about bank-switching early so that you understand where shit is in the ROM, and use an accurate emulator (like BGB).
@typhlosion Oracle of Ages. I've learned a ton about assembly; it's mostly the same (because ain't nobody got time to redesign an entire map) but I'm adding a new dungeon, some tweaks, some quality-of-life fixes...
Relatedly, my invocation to "Conditional Jump" actually worked, and now I can inject code into an entirely new part of the game I'm romhacking. Hell yes.
@oneiro If it's not one brain-melting arcane ancient language, it's another.
Yeah, this is a real good instance already.
Well then. I was gonna do a proper intro thing but then someone linked a new version of the Psychonaut Field Manual and I got distracted reading that.
Note to self: when choosing things to do, switching between "reading about chaos magick" and "coding GBC assembly" is probably not the best combination. My brain feels like it's been through a spin cycle.
ANYWAY HI
