@CursedConfetti @benhamill ah yeah that's what you were telling me about on Saturday! I've heard of split ergativity where it's based on whether the "subject" is an agent, and I think you were telling me that in Austronesian languages they actually use ergative alignment for some marking and nominative-accusative for other kinds of marking on the same words?

apparently artifexian is going to make a video on at least the basics of ergativity at some point
