Non-white violent actors are entirely stripped of motivation, meaning, or even reason. Humanity is granted to the victims; the violent actors are dehumanized by the very descriptor.

White violent actors are describe by their motivation, meaning, and reason. They are granted the assumption of some form of logic, even if it is a poisonous one. They are humanized by the very descriptor.

So here we have the two "types" of large scale violence enacted on civilians:

For non-white people, foreign, or foreign "feeling" terrorism, we have "Terror" -- which describes the emotions of the victims of violence.

For white, domestic or domestic "feeling" terrorism, "Hate" -- which describes the motivation of the actors of violence.

These are not accidental colloquialisms. This is state manipulation through words.

Not only have we taken as short hand an emotion for what we mean to be "organized foreign terrorism," we apparently now *SPECIFICALLY* have a different word to designate violent crimes targeting civilians *when they are committed by white people.*

Hate. Hate, which has agency. Which can be rehabilitated. Which can be turned to love or at least acceptance through education.

Even more abstracted and ludicrous is this from CNN: "Manley says that Conditt did not make any terror- or hate-related references in the confession."

Terror related. Terror related. Now we've abstracted ourselves from organized terrorism to terrorism to terror.

Now a feeling, an emotion, one of the worst and (obviously) scariest things we as humans feel, is aligned with non-white people.

But wait, there's more.

When you see someone make the statement that the Austin bomber had "no links to terrorism", the phrase makes no prescriptive sense. He was a serial bomber, targeting civilians. That's terrorism. Since he was doing the action, then of course he has links to terrorism. What they mean, and what for some reason we don't say, anymore, is "organized terrorism."

Because terrorism means "non-white people" in America.

I realize that words have a prescriptive and a descriptive meaning, but there is a massive difference between the way that the general populace uses a word through slang and vernacular, and the way that a state hands down the descriptive meaning of a word so that we all understand it on their terms.

"Terrorist," "terrorism," and "terror," for example, which were corrupted in the American vernacular by the GWB administration.

Most importantly, stop putting institutional events on Facebook, stop using it at universities, stop making participation in Facebook mandatory through your institutional, organization, and activist roles. You can be online, and social, and connected without supporting Facebook.
