art people exist solely to remind me that I'll never make anything pretty without spending thousands of hours I don't have praticing and thousands of pounds I don't have on an art degree
@Concerned_Catgirl Shortcut: drop acid and scribble on paper.
Done! You've made one art. No degree necessary.
@Concerned_Catgirl Well, it’s true that you got to practice, but that you need an art degree is definitely false!
@Concerned_Catgirl you don't need pretty to have relatable
@Concerned_Catgirl not so! You pretty much can spend next to nothing and practice for maybe a few minutes a day and end up with something beautiful. If you *had* to make some purchases I would say a pencil, eraser, drawing paper, and tracing paper would put you well on the way. Get a bunch of fashion magazines and a ballpoint pen and trace! Trace images from your computer using trace paper. That's how to learn!
@Concerned_Catgirl honestly the best tip I got was to choose a thing i wanted to draw, and google pictures of that thing from many angles. Draw the thing from memory (say, a shrimp) and then trace 5-10 photos of the thing. Then Draw one by copying visually (not just tracing), and then after doing that once or a few times, draw the thing (a shrimp) from your imagination. Tracing is totally acceptable! tracing things is what makes you learn tbh.
@Concerned_Catgirl art doesn’t need to be ‘good or pretty’* nor do you need a degree- just so long as you have fun making it?
Doesn’t matter if it’s a stick figure drawn on a paper napkin, if you draw it, it’s art
*also like few artists including me feel our art is good enough, you don’t have to feel it’s good for it to be good?
If I’m making any sense there
@Concerned_Catgirl ah, you don't need a degree :3 I don't have one.
yeah, the time is a drag tho. but you can start at any age (srsly)
@Concerned_Catgirl
for me doesn't art need to be pretty.
I view it as a language expressing ourselfs. The creation is like story telling. You bring something from inside you to the outside through a transformative process.
@Concerned_Catgirl technically, you could just need the practice ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
