french flag:
Iranian style
@Concerned_Catgirl This is way too uncomfortable.
@Concerned_Catgirl that's one sexy flag tbh, the tone-split in the letters makes it look like qr code noise from afar which makes me think of technocracies or something
@Concerned_Catgirl This is really an interesting approach, I never had considered the Iranian flag that way before. Kudos for the redesign ! Why a Lorraine cross, though ? It never seemed very typical of all of France to me. How did you come up with this idea ?
@Sasha @Concerned_Catgirl isn't it the cross used by the Résistance?
@hecate @Concerned_Catgirl Yeah you're absolutely right, it was on the Free France's flag during WWII and a symbol deeply connected to the General De Gaulle. There's a huge one in Colombey-les-Deux-Églises in the east of France where he's burried.
It's originally linked with royal families of eastern Europe (Lorraine has shortly belonged to Poland), it appears on the flags of Slovakia and on the coat of arms of Hungary and is a general item used in heraldic.
So of course it is a symbol of a very important (and dark) part of our history, but I don't see why we would favour that part rather than others. To me it's a historical event, not what defines France.
@Sasha @hecate @Concerned_Catgirl well if add the theocratic side of Iran, that's understandable
@Concerned_Catgirl if you drop that into the right facebook group you can probably start a riot somewhere
