@agaric tallahassee is what i consider the "beginner's" album. it's got a little bit of everything, a lot of misery, and if you don't like it you're probably not going to enjoy the rest of his stuff

i don't know where i'd be without this man, without this band. no other artist has ever hit me where i live the way john darnielle has. his songs are anthems to my own survival and sobriety. in my darkest hours they were always something to latch onto, to remind me that i'm not alone in my troubles.

december is a hard time for a lot of us. i'm feeling it really bad myself, and i think about these tweets and i cry. i'm going to make it through this year if it kills me.
