So in Star Wars they explain the Sith as drawing from negative emotion and the Jedi beings stoics, but that doesn't seem like it covers the full spectrum. So I have a question to ask all you Star Wars nerds: are there force uses that instead draw on POSITIVE EMOTIONS? Are there tag team force abilities powered by friendship? Can you levitate yourself up with joy? Are there any twee jedi wearing bright pastel colored clothes and carrying pink lightsabers instead of dressing like a monk or an edgelord, going around the galaxy protecting people with force powers fueled by love and compassion like they're Sailor Moon? I think there's untapped potential here.
@ThatVeryQuinn Oh, I know what the Jedi think. But the Jedi even canonically are often incredibly wrong, and over all seem to cause just as much if not more trouble than good in the universe.
Also I'm 90% just joking around.
@BadWrongFun Oh, lol, sorry. >_<
@ThatVeryQuinn Nah, it's fine! ^_^ Don't worry about it.
@BadWrongFun "Grey" Jedi are a thing, but it's all been pushed to the Legends (all the old Extended Universe stuff) section of Star Wars, so nothing canon yet since the Disney buyout.
@BadWrongFun A few Jedi did have common sense there - Qui-Gon Jinn was convinced that they should take in Anakin do he *doesn't* seek solace in the dark side. When he died, no-one else really wanted to care for him; it didn't help that the Jedi didn't want to aid Padme, either.
@BadWrongFun
The dark side isn't fueled by negativity, but by emotion in general
Theoretically one could be a dark acolyte with nothing but good, albeit selfish, intentions
@BadWrongFun
Also bear in mind that healing oneself using the Force is a dark side technique that was (in Legends) later adapted by the Jedi
@BadWrongFun
So, TL;DR
Yeah probably
@BadWrongFun my little jedi, friendship is magic!
Star Wars, probably taking things too seriously Afficher plus
@BadWrongFun Jedi are supposed to do that. Luke bested Vader because of tapping into his positive emotions. The Jedi Order being cowards who reject emotions led to their downfall.
@BadWrongFun there were also Light Sith in some Legends Media http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Light_Sith
@BadWrongFun
This needs to be a thing
@BadWrongFun in some of the comics the sith described themselves as using passion, not necessarily negative emotions.
I always took it as a lack of imagination from George Lucas that the Sith and Jedi are both so boring in the stories and there only being a black and white morality allowed in a lot of the media.
@BadWrongFun I would watch this in a heartbeat. Happy Jedi going around being compassionate and enthusiastic and putting cute stickers on their lightsaber hilts would be amazing.
@BadWrongFun AFAIK, the thesis of the Jedi is that positive emotions ultimately lead to negative emotions, and those with such powers cannot be prone to fits of strong emotion, regardless of what sort.
I have no idea about the rest of this though.
