I think the reason given has ussually been they don't know how to spice up the formula.

But optional gyroscope controls for turning would likely work pretty well.

Also none of the F-Zero games ever went online.

And hell, they could expand upon the create a car feature in GX and like have you share your creations online. Maybe do a create a track feature too?
