Here's another interesting book review. It's about the promise, and failure, of the Soviet Union in the 50's. :/

Hey, so I think I managed to optimize Agora so it should run pretty okay now. Low power computers will likely still have some trouble, but the rest should handle it okay. And it runs a LOT better in chrome or chomium then it does in firefox. Take a look and tell me how it works for you? XD

New research provides a perhaps more convincing analysis on the fall of #labor share of value received, with a finding that labor's share is also falling in poor countries with labor intensive economies, which goes against prevailing economic theory bloomberg.com/view/articles/20

Today I realized that I cannot expect people on the Internet to have heard of the Geek Social Fallacies any more.

The Geek Social Fallacies are five things that geeks often believe about How Socializing Should Work, that cause a lot of conflict. I've found them to be pretty useful as a way to put a handle on certain concepts, and maybe even avoid going into bad situations.

(Looking at them in 2017, I find myself wondering how many of the GSFs the design of most social networks is running straight into...)

To pretend that "the state" does anything is to move culpability from the individuals who make the decisions in the states, for whom the decisions ultimately lie with. The state exists in people's minds. People run the state, often very bad people who see a million deaths as a statistic.

I made delicious curry! Unfortunately, now my apartment smells like delicious curry and it's making it hard to sleep... XD

Where do you keep your money? If the answer ends with the word "bank," you're doing it wrong. Put your money into cooperatively owned financial institutions. You can find a credit union in your area here: bit.ly/2HGlKw5 If you want help identifying which credit unions you can join.... @ me. #GoCoop #CreditUnions

So, hypothetically speaking, is there any rule that says you can't run for the nomination of both political parties at once? Just, y'know, hypothetically speaking. :V

...Huh. Now I want to make a game about leading a revolution, either through violence or through electoral politics, complete with a detailed recreation of all the trouble that can come with either. Factional internal politics, external pressures, secret police being deployed against you, the works. Be a help of an effort though, and not something all that many would necessarily have an interest in. :/

Well, I'm being lazy, so I'm probably not gonna copy the whole thing here, but I posted about it on a forum, if you want to binge the archives. XD

I want this thing, but interactive. So I can control the speed, zoom in, have events show up on the map, maybe even have people show up on the map.. Be amazing. Not that it isn;t cool as it is, but I'm greedy, so. XD

Hey yall, do you think I ask too many questions? It seems a large portion of my posts are me crowdsourcing answers to some question or another. Maybe I should try and post more content, instead? :/

...Huh. Does anyone know of any galleries showing the progressions of famous artists, going all the way from when they first started and were really bad, all the way to the masterpieces that made them famous? That would be amazing to see. XD

Hmm. I'm thinking of a combat system for a roguelike. It would be fairly fancy - you bave targeted hit locations, and active defenses, and stuff like that. Depending on your skills, you get a random assortment of possible attacks you can make against someone. Some attacks will target hit locations, or have bonuses/penalties to hit, or to damage, or to your opponents chance to defend, or to your next chance to defend, or give you free movement, or whatever. I'm not actually sure how that would work with multiple enemies, though. Honestly, the idea might work better for a text adventure game than for a roguelikes? :/

Anyone else here read Ow My Sanity? It's on hiatus right now, but it's really good. The author's got lots of other cool stuff on their deviantart too, y'all should check it out. :P
