Here's another interesting book review. It's about the promise, and failure, of the Soviet Union in the 50's. :/

Hey, so I think I managed to optimize Agora so it should run pretty okay now. Low power computers will likely still have some trouble, but the rest should handle it okay. And it runs a LOT better in chrome or chomium then it does in firefox. Take a look and tell me how it works for you? XD

@Angle And I can even add people to lists from their toots, without having to dig them up in the list UI! Huzzah! XD

Hey, my lists work in subway footer now. XD

@daggertooth ...Alright, that's shitty. Time to start degooglifying, I guess. :/

Invited my Dad to mastodon. Now to find out whether I've made a terrible mistake... XD

If anyone needs help figuring out how to make it work, just ask. Mainly, you need this library and then three others.

hey all! Remember that thing I linked a while back, the digital audio workstation? The kickstarter failed, but my friend released it open source:

Hey @Gargron! Suppose I wanted to ditch Agora's current backend, a tangled mass of node.js javascript, and steal Mastodon's backend for that purpose instead. Is that cool with you? :P

"Excuse me, do you have a moment to talk about Net Neutrality?" witches.town/media/X9XEmtmR2xT

Me: I'm going to get useful things done today.

Also me: But first, let's spend three hours browsing Mastodon.

XD

Wouldn’t it be funny if through destroying net neutrality, big ISP’s drove demand for mesh networks and distributed systems, effectively digging their own graves? 🤔

Went and called my state senators, representative, and attorney general. My voice tone was kinda combative on account of being anxious about talking to people, but I think I made that work in my favor. Hopefully I didn't scare the poor interns too much. XD

I sewed one of my blankets back together today. I had no idea sewing machines could get so complicated. :0

...Has anyone ever tried to write out a real life tech tree, like from a video game? I know it's probably not practical, but it'd be interesting to see the attempt. XD

puny human, I ask that you consider your feelings. it will be dealing with definite quantities, such as dozens of watches, yards of linen, or tons of iron.

Robots are not the way to solve the problem of homelessness or tent cities. Using robots to harass people without homes is a really sketchy application, and I bet that the engineers who built that system didn't know it would be used for that purpose.

I'm reminded of the talk which Illah Nourbakhsh gave about the ethics of roboticists, but it's a bigger problem than just the choices of individual engineers.
