@SuperLeo This is more the "Ultimate existential questions and singularity pondering" end of transhumanism. Cybernetics are pretty cool though and I'm eagerly awaiting my ascension to glorious machine being. XD

I realize that sounds like hubris – it certainly did to Hurlock – but I think it’s the opposite of hubris, or at least a hubris-minimizing position.

To expect God to care about you or your personal values or the values of your civilization, that’s hubris.

To expect God to bargain with you, to allow you to survive and prosper as long as you submit to Him, that’s hubris.

To expect to wall off a garden where God can’t get to you and hurt you, that’s hubris.

To expect to be able to remove God from the picture entirely…well, at least it’s an actionable strategy.

@DenubisX I'm more concerned with Moloch, honestly. Have you read that essay, Meditations on Moloch? You can find it if you google. I've been reading The Dictators Handbook, and it's pure Molochian terror, at least the bits that I'm on right now. :/

@Elizafox @woozle My take is, fundamentally, we need to be smarter, wiser, more thoughtful. That's what I'm trying to do with Agora. Create a way for us to put our heads together en masse to solve the problems none of us can individually. Problem is, I can't seem to solve basic programming problems like managing layered overlapping labels, so.

Maybe once I stop being sick and I can take the adderall prescription I got earlier this week, I'll get something done. :/

I want a better world, but it's hard to believe it's possible. :/
