@Angle @Angle Sexual desire is a tyrannical passion -- the more you feed it, the more it consumes you. We see the results in the ever-increasing desire for more extreme pornography; in the break-up of marriages in search of novelty; in sex without even the hint of love.
Consent is not enough; people often consent to things that are contrary to their happiness and health. Chastity is a virtue that Western society has forgotten.

Alcohol and sex are nothing comparable. Like you said, there is a natural urge to have sex, when there's no innate compulsion to drink. This is why sobriety isn't as absurd as chastity is.

@Angle Oh, absolutely sexual desire, like alcohol, causes more problems for some people than others. But sobriety is a positive term, and (outside of frats and such) we criticise drunkenness. Who now thinks of chastity as commendable?
