Hey all, I need a name for my Low Fantasy GURPS ASCII Dungeon Crawler. Any suggestions? XD
@sydneyfalk Gritty and immersive? Kinda like fantasy XCom.
@sydneyfalk Hmm, that seems like a good tagline. Maybe <something>: Tales of Steel and Blood?
I like that as a tag, yeah! That'd play good, esp. with 'tales' in front there
is it A dungeon, or SEVERAL dungeons?
if it's A dungeon, maybe the name of the dungeon, then ": Tales of" after that
@sydneyfalk No, it's several dungeons. It is a region, though. On the other hand, I don't have a name for that either... XD
@sydneyfalk Mmm, yeah. Now I just need a region name. Carvendaugh? Eh. :/
@sydneyfalk I'm not actually sure what I'm gonna do for language. Probably english but funny sounding? Though not really archaic, I wanna do things differently than that. :/
You could even veer a little further, something like Vasshen, Vaschon, something that sounds like 'visceral' doesn't hurt.
Crovasshun? Crovanhus?
(but obv. I'm spitballing here ^_^ if it's helpful, good, but fantasy's not usually my thing anyway, so I might not be the right source for this ^_^ )
@sydneyfalk Hmm. I like Crovasshun. Maybe I'll just use that? At least for the moment. :P
Feel free! If it sticks, I'm glad I could help. And if it doesn't, I'm glad it helped until it was replaced by something better! ^_^
@sydneyfalk Indeed, thank you! I'll post some screen shots as soon as I have something pretty enough. XD
Plus, you want it to 'sound' brutal -- the 'Carv' is good, the 'daugh' sounds -- soft, maybe squishy.
Carven would work by itself better, maybe?
Croven? I feel like it's a less-is-more kinda thing, maybe. If it's meant to be a "wide and varied" kinda fantasy land. Some of them are One Land Of Many, like in Elder Scrolls, so the names are very different between 'lands' involved.
@sydneyfalk I was thinking "daugh" pronounced like "Auugh!", but yeah. :/
It's not a bad thought, but 'dough' is a more common word, so it kinda pulls the ugh sound into squishy-seeming, IMO.
('dargh' might work better? 'argh' is a sound of displeasure, and that'd definitely sound dungeon-crawly)
@Angle
Hm. HMMMMMM.
Do you have a language set up, or are you doing "it's in English but ARCHAIC English"?
