I speak Catalan with my freinds in Catalonia, but I can also speak Spanish, although I don't use it much. Have you also learned asturian through your mom's family?

On 7th July, the Catalan government invalidated 63.961 fascist trials, held between 1938 and 1978. The "Arxiu Nacional de Catalunya" has published the names of all people and entities affected. There are 65.990 unique people names.

My home town's population is about 65.972 inhabitants, so there where more repressed people during Franco's dictatorship than people living in my town in 2016.

In the city I'm living now had 251.364 inhabitants in 2015. It's as if more than one in every 4 people here had beed put in an unfair trial.

It is so sad it ever happened, but I'm glad the catalan government took this simbolic action ...

Maybe I should stop looking what other people do with their lives, and start having an own, which was by the way the reason why back then I deleted my Facebook account.

While I find it possible that he meant good, and he wants people (not only women) to stop giving support to an industry that causes lots of harm, it is not a good way to give orders like that and then run away. If you are really concerned about something you belive I am doing, just talk to me. If your cause is good I will be glad to listen.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think that that "wheird and confusing thing" my project manager was talking about was his hemorroids. And if that wasn't embarassing enough, I think that he was trying to find out if I have had those too.

And because of things like that, I feel really glad to have a job interview next thursday.

I was in the supermarket, looking something in the make-up section, trying to find out what I was looking at out of curiosity, when a random guy I have never met before decided to show me how masculine he is by telling me what I am not allowed to do with my own body and then running away.

I have a feeling he isn't doing the same with random guys standing in the chips section....

And it's exaclty because of idiots like that that feminism is still needed.

The tortured people are still hurt, even if all this shit happened 25 years ago. But at least some of them, even after haven get through this horrors, choose to not to shut up and explain, that torture is still a thing.

Finally, once I met on of this people who decided to bring their cases to Straßburg. I would love to send him some comfort words, and to thank him for his bravery, but I don't know what exactly I should say. I wish I could just hug all of them, if they wish.

It wasn't until then when Spain was finally condemned for never investigate the complaints of torture. And I'm not 100% sure about this, but I think they even destroyed evidence about what happened.

BTW, the judge who ordered the arresting of this people, and ignored later the complaints of torture was no other than Baltasar Garzón. The same Baltasar Garzón who tried to bring the dictator Pinochet in a court because of torture and murder, and who later in 2004 the 'Universal Forum of Cultures' in Barcelona wanted to give us al a lesson about human rights.

25 years ago the spanish police began to partly arrest and partly abduct catalans, most of them pro-independence. They where accused of being terrorists and/or supporting a terrorist organisation (the very most where not).

After three to four days of incommunication and torture, they where forced to confess a crime they never did to a judge. Some of the supposed terrorist would tell the judges that they had been tortured, but the judge would just ignore that.

This catalans had to fight a lot to see something close to a fair trial. This didn't happen until they brought the case to the European Court of Human Rights in Strasburg.
