We have a particular view of history that views events - and particularly changes in ways of thinking - as the fruit of the labour of a few thinkers acting as individuals, rather than social changes being the natural conclusion of changes in material circumstances.
How much of history, science, and art is the result of a few "great people", versus the collective intellectual labour of humans as a reaction to the ever-changing environment they find themselves in?

I usual have a super-consumptive approach to media; I rarely produce anything. I think I fear other people's judgement online more than in real life.
