I like to think of it as that system just being how the humans who got the Death Notes assumed it would work.

after all, the time system was explicitly stated to have been changed from the system the gods used, so why not the name system, too?

so the people were awful, and their lives were made more difficult for it!

I am now legitimately running code to find interesting numbers, n and m, such that n % m = 69, where n is not some multiple of m plus 69.

I have yet to understand why I am doing this.

particularly since I have just realised that it is literally impossible for this to be true for any number ever...

I have just run this code:

LongStream.range(1, Long.MAX_VALUE).filter(n -> n % 69 == 69).forEach(n -> System.out.println(n + " % 69 = 69"));

I am the Worst person.

sad fact I just checked:

there exists no counting number (less than 1 000 000 000), n, such that the remainder of n when dividing by 69 is 69. :(
